Hidden Falls Resident Camp

Camp Life & Activities

Hidden Falls Resident Camp Campers Hiking

Hidden Falls had been the place of great summer adventures for girls since 1957. Our focus is to provide enriching outdoor experiences while providing girls a fun place to try new things and make new friends.

Camp sessions range from 3-14 days, with a different group of campers arriving each session. Girls register in the spring for a group program that range from a sampling of camp activities to specialized programs such as surfing or performing arts.

Campers live in units based on their program and age. Most units range in size from 12-24 girls. Units spend most of the day together participating in activities related to their specific program. Special all camp events, such as campfires, theme meals, carnivals or talent shows, are held throughout the session and bring everyone together for more camp fun.

Most campers ride the chartered bus to camp and, as girls in the same group sit together, it's a great way to get to know other campers you'll be living with during the week. Participants in the Partner Programs come to camp via their own transportation. Once you get to camp, you'll settle in your living unit and get to know them. The first night will be a special campfire with just the girls in your program. This helps really get to know everyone and feel comfortable to you can enjoy the rest of your session.

The second night at camp is our traditional all-camp opening campfire to welcome everyone. Through out the week you'll enjoy other special all-camp events, such as theme meals, mystery hunts, talent shows or carnivals. The last night is our final closing campfire where we look back over the fun and events of the session, share songs, stories and special memories.

Meals
Our food service staff at resident camp prepares variety of pleasing and nutritious meals appropriate for children. Camp food isn’t what it used to be! Our camps serve plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs and breads. Salad and sidebars are available and snacks are provided in the afternoons. Meals are served family style in the open air Dining Hall. We do offer a vegetarian alternative at each meal. During breakfast, a cereal bar is available in addition to the main meal. During lunch and dinner we offer a fresh salad bar as a supplement to the main meal. If you have certain tastes, allergies, dietary needs or requirements based on religious or philosophical beliefs, we should discuss this as we may or may not be able to meet your requirements. Contact happycamper@girlscoutsnorcal.org to clarify what can be provided at camp.

Although each group of campers has a slightly different schedule, a typical day at camp might look like this:

Camp Activities

You can beat the summer heat with a daily visit to our pool or waterfall! Water games, swimming, or water polo might be some of the activities you will find happening during swim time.

Try your hand at painting, drawing, making candles, tie-dye and more when you come to visit the Art Specialist! For all the budding artists out there, this is your time to shine! All activities are designed with specific age groups in mind.

For participants entering 4th grade and up, take a trip to the range and see if Archery is for you! Under the watchful eye of our Archery Instructor, you will receive instruction on how to shoot and then have an opportunity to try your skill at hitting that bull's eye.

Hiking on the beautiful mountain trails that surround camp is a wonderful way to connect back with nature. Or visit the nature center for some interesting environmental activities with our Nature Specialist.

And when the day is over, you might have the opportunity to cook over an open fire, sing around the campfire, eat a s'more or even take a twilight hike under the stars.
