We want S'more Girls at CAMP!

Troop Meeting Resources for Leaders

Summer camp is a natural extension of the Girl Scout program and an excellent way to keep girls active in the organization throughout the summer and into the next school year. We've put together a Daisy, Brownie and Junior Troop meeting guide for you to use with your troop to get them excited about the camp experience. Please talk to the girls in your troop about signing up for the summer camp programs that we offer through Girl Scouts of Northern California so that they may have an enriching summer experience!

Our campers PARENTS say it the best...

“Great experience, good value for the money, lots of options for dates, locations, programs, and sign up early.”

BOTHIN PARENTS, 2009:

“My daughter went to camp on her own, so she had to learn how to make friends, to speak up for herself, and to become part of the team. We were thrilled to see how well she did and how inspired she was by the older girl scouts that she met.”

“We loved Camp Bothin as a "starter" camp that was close to home and had lots of young girls. My daughter was thrilled and wants to go again next year (as does her little sister in a few years!).”

METRO DAY CAMP PARENTS, 2009:

“She tried many different kinds of art projects, and came home and made an Art Gallery in her room of many of the things she did over the week. She was also very excited every day telling us all the details when she came home, and couldn't wait to go the next day.”

“We drive home from camp everyday, the three of us singing the same songs I sang when I was a Girl Scout! Thanks for giving me these precious moments with my daughters.”

DEER LAKE PARENTS, 2009:

“My daughter was pleased to make it to the top of the challenging rope climb. She worked with a partner who had to stop midway. Everyone was encouraging both girls to do their best. They had to respect the other girl’s fear of heights and celebrate how far she did make it on the climb. My daughter made new friends and learned new skills (geocaching, funyaking). It was a very positive experienced for her. She loved the location with the lakes and trees. She was so excited about her experience that she wants to return next year.”

“My daughter came back from camp more excited than I've ever seen her! Her journal entries and letters to me described her true enthusiasm and strong emotions for all of her camp experiences. She was so very PROUD of herself for reaching the top of the climbing wall. We both cried when she described it to me. She said she couldn't have done it if the camp counselors and campers didn't cheer her on -- they kept encouraging her until she finally made it!”

HIDDEN FALLS PARENT, 2009:

“Sleeping outside under the stars was a new experience my daughter had never done before and she jumped right in to do so. She never tried archery and was frustrated the first time… but the second time she was smiling and having fun.”

SKYLARK RANCH PARENTS, 2009:

“She overcame homesickness and developed more of a sense of independence; she is very aware of how to care for and humanely interact with animals, particularly horses; her riding and vaulting skills improved.”

“She was really happy when she came home and can't wait to go back next year! She appreciates the environment more, picks up trash as she sees it, and she clears her own plate at home and she enjoys helping out more...this was truly one of the best experiences for her to grow as a young girl! Thank you!”

SUGAR PINE PARENTS, 2009

“Being in the wilderness is a real comfort for her. She clearly came back feeling confident and strong.”

“My daughter tells me that everything was her favorite part and by the end of the week, she didn't want to leave.”
